Eliminating tuberculosis

We set ourselves this task clearly and move towards it with consistent, confident steps.

And the workshop on improving TB care for heads of regional TB centers, which took place these days in Kamianets-Podilskyi, is another important step towards this goal.

“From TB strategy to implementation”. This was the slogan used to coordinate efforts, analyze interim progress over the first 6 months of this year, identify strengths and weaknesses, and prioritize activities at the regional level.

Liubomyr Rak, Director General of the Center for Pulmonary Health, presented Lviv region and the experience of our institution in particular at the meeting.

Accents of the meeting:

 - The epidemiologic context of tuberculosis today and the forecast for the future.

 - Transformation of the health care system and the place of the TB service.

 - Achievement of the provisions of the Political Declaration of the UN General Assembly High-Level Meeting on Tuberculosis Control.

 - Discussion of the implementation of the new State Strategy for Improving TB Care in accordance with its Implementation Plan.

 - Improving the quality of TB medical care.

 - Innovative approaches to overcoming tuberculosis: state of implementation, future plans.

 - Exchange of best practices and successful regional experience in overcoming tuberculosis and many other important issues.
