The department's specialists use leading technologies in the treatment of congenital and acquired pathologies of the musculoskeletal system.

Anaesthesiology and intensive care

Our institution provides highly specialised anaesthetic care and intensive care in pulmonology, thoracic surgery and phthisiology.

The Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care is a place of concentration for seriously ill patients from all medical institutions in the Lviv region. This specificity makes it possible to develop and apply the most advanced treatment regimens for the most severe pulmonary pathologies, which makes the department's experience unique.

It provides comprehensive intensive care that is constantly being improved. Respiratory therapy is performed with the help of modern Carina Drager respirators, which allows us to provide qualified care to patients with lung pathology complicated by respiratory distress syndrome and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome.

The department is equipped with syringe pumps, pulse oximeters, infusomats, defibrillators, respirators, plasmapheresis, haemosorption, laser therapy, ozone therapy, and ultraviolet therapy.

The complex of anaesthetic measures during surgical interventions is carried out in full using modern techniques and drugs: general anaesthesia with a ventilator, with preserved spontaneous breathing, conduction anaesthesia, etc.

The main areas of the department's work are the development and implementation of new modern methods and techniques of anaesthesia and intensive care for patients with chest diseases.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the unit provided high-quality care to the most serious patients from all over Lviv region with severe coronavirus complications.

The department's employees are guided in their daily work by professionalism and a sensitive attitude towards patients.

Diagnostic department

1. X-ray diagnostic department

The department has  an inpatient X-ray diagnostic room and an outpatient X-ray diagnostic room, as well as a fluorography room. There are mobile fluorographs and mobile X-ray machines for inpatient departments, as well as mobile X-ray vehicles  for work in the region, according to requests from districts and enterprises.

The department is equipped with a modern X-ray diagnostic system  Apollo EZ DRF X-ray diagnostic system of the new generation with an innovative tomosynthesis function. It allows for radiography, tomography and fluoroscopy. The system can be used to examine all organs and parts of the body. The system produces high quality images, provides detailed images, and is more informative than conventional examinations.

The X-ray diagnostic rooms provide radiography of all organs and systems in various projections, lung tomography with direct and oblique and transverse stratification.Contrast pleuroscopy and chest radiographs  to clarify the location of chest wall lesions, lung pathology, or pleural cavity.

In addition, the institution has a computed tomography room with a high-end Canon (Toshiba) Aquilion Prime SP CT system. Routine non-contrast and contrast examinations of the chest, abdomen and pelvis, CT coronography, and antiography of all vessels (brain, aorta, upper and lower extremities) are performed.

The department also provides assistance in functional diagnostics and physiotherapy. There are rooms for electrocardiography (ECG) and external respiratory function (ERF), which are equipped with modern diagnostic equipment to determine the functional state of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems.

The physiotherapy department includes rooms for ultrasound, solux, therapeutic and intra-organic electrophoresis, inhalation, massage and exercise therapy, where qualified physiotherapy and reflexology treatment, ultrasound and nebulisation inhalation are provided.

The bacteriological laboratory of the third level carries out bacteriological examination of biological material for the diagnosis of tuberculosis, pneumonia, bronchitis and other infectious diseases of the respiratory system, which ensures timely and high-quality detection of infectious cases of tuberculosis, monitoring of the treatment process and documentary confirmation of the patient's recovery.

To obtain high-quality, reliable results of microbiological tests for tuberculosis, the laboratory is fully equipped with consumables, media and the latest equipment. Both modern and classical diagnostic methods are used. Two automated Bactec MGIT 960 systems allow for bacteriological diagnosis of tuberculosis and determination of the pathogen's drug susceptibility to first- and second-line drugs within two weeks.

The bacteriological laboratory carries out molecular genetic studies of biological material using the real-time polymerase chain reaction method.

Two Gene-Expert systems can identify the presence or absence of a tuberculosis pathogen and determine its susceptibility to rifampicin within 3 hours of receipt of the material.

The laboratory annually successfully passes the external quality control of tests performed by the reference laboratory for microbiological diagnosis of tuberculosis of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
